SmartCharge
SmartCharge is an innovative project of the AKETH PIRATES team, which was presented at the 3rd Panhellenic Generation Next Competition. Facing the problem of lack of information on the availability of electric vehicle charging stations, especially in cities like Trikala, the team developed an application that allows drivers to identify in real time which stations are free. The solution is based on distance sensors placed at each charging point, collecting data on the availability of stations. This data is sent to the cloud and is accessible through an app that integrates with Google Maps, allowing users to easily navigate to the nearest available station.
This application helps reduce traffic congestion and emissions, promoting the wider use of electric vehicles and enhancing environmental sustainability. SmartCharge is an excellent example of how young people can use STEM technologies to provide practical solutions to modern problems, enhancing the quality of life in cities and promoting innovation in everyday life.
