OUR TEAM

AKETH PIRATES are the most complete and dynamic expression of the educational innovation of the Thessaly Development Centre (AKETH) and constitute the natural continuation and evolution of a series of successful robotics teams of the organisation, such as AkethRobotics, CargoBots, Energy Lions, AKETH Xperts, AIRGears, TriRoboNauts, RoboTeens and others. Through long-term experience, collaboration and incremental development, AKETH PIRATES embodies the knowledge, creativity and modern educational approach that characterize the AKETH Innovation Robotics Lab.

Engaging students in robotics and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) is not just an exciting activity; it is also a meaningful learning experience that allows them to acquire new knowledge and cultivate critical 21st century skills such as creativity, collaboration, problem solving and critical thinking - skills that will accompany them on every future academic and professional path. It is a powerful educational tool that promotes modern teaching approaches such as learning by doing, innovation, interdisciplinarity and equal access to knowledge and learning for all.

The AKETH PIRATES team, consisting of students and young people with a passion for technology, has repeatedly distinguished itself over the years in leading competitions, such as the FIRST® LEGO® League, RoboRAVE Greece, the WRO Educational Robotics Olympiad, the Panhellenic Generation Next Competition, as well as the international educational innovation competition StarT, organised by the Finnish educational network LUMA, in cooperation with the Finnish Ministry of Education and the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters. Through these awards, the team has become eligible to participate in the finals of global competitions, confirming its high level of knowledge, skills and innovative thinking.

Their action is a creative combination of technology, environmental education and artistic expression, demonstrating in practice that robotics is not just a technological tool, but a source of inspiration, awareness and innovative solutions to contemporary social and environmental challenges. Driven by creativity, collaboration and continuous development, AKETH PIRATES are redefining the role of STEM education in practice.
